Take A Tour Of The South Carolina Campus

Strategically located where animals and people are most in need – in the heart of the rural south, the Lucky Dog South Carolina Rescue Campus is truly a one-of-a-kind animal welfare center. The campus currently includes the Verstanding Family Foundation Vet Clinic, the Lazin Animal Foundation Infectious Disease ICU, the JR Peterson Ringworm Treatment Center, and Stopover Station. Since opening in 2023, the campus has already saved thousands of homeless and at-risk animals.

Lucky Dog also provides affordable pet services to Florence County residents (not just our shelter partners) as well as jobs and internship opportunities critical to the Pee Dee region and beyond.

Rescue Campus Phase II

Lucky Dog is currently looking for donors willing to support Phase II's capital campaign. Phase II will expand the facility to include:

Heartworm Treatment and Boarding Kennel which will provide housing for dogs during heartworm treatment recovery, to provide temporary housing for pets owned by victims of domestic violence, and to help generate revenue for sustainability of our campus.
The Cattery complete with Kitten Nursery, to help address the significant deficit in feline lifesaving that exists in Florence County.
The Pet Pantry which will distribute low cost pet food and supplies to Florence, SC residents.

Lucky Dog Animal Rescue Heartworm Study

Lucky Dog Animal Rescue, in partnership with Toronto Humane Society, the University of Florida Shelter Medicine Program, and PetSmart Charities, is finalizing the analysis of a groundbreaking study which has the potential to change the way animal shelters across the United States treat heartworm infected dogs.
