Lucky Dog Animal Rescue receives PEDIGREE Foundation Program Development Grant to Launch Dog Behavior Resource Initiative

Florence, S.C., June 26, 2025 — Lucky Dog Animal Rescue urges pet owners to  microchip their pets this June as part of National Microchip Month.  Microchips are an essential way to identify and reunite pets with their families should they go missing.

In the past seven days, Lucky Dog has provided temporary housing for 184 dogs and cats evacuated from areas in Florida and Tennessee impacted by Hurricane Helene

Moving adoptable pets from overtaxed and underfunded shelters to rescues like Lucky Dog gives second chances to animals that have limited to no local options for adoption.

To celebrate 30 years of in store adoptions, Lucky Dog Animal Rescue & PetSmart Charities encourage pet lovers to make room in their hearts and homes for an adopted pet.

Funded by a generous grant from PetSmart Charities®, Lucky Dog Animal Rescue is partnering with researchers from the University of Florida Shelter Medicine Program and the Toronto Humane Society to make canine heartworm treatment more accessible to shelter animals.
