We Bet You’ll Be Obsessed with Lucky Dog Animal Rescue’s ‘Dogs With Human Hands’ Video Promoting Their Upcoming Casino Night
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Odds are, this two minutes of gambling dogs is just what you need today. It’s a funny clip to promote a fun event that supports serious, lifesaving pet rescue.
WASHINGTON, D.C. (Oct. 3, 2024) — Are you looking to get lucky?
Staff and volunteers for Lucky Dog Animal Rescue went all-in with a pack of poker-playing pooches to promote their upcoming Casino Night Gala. The resulting photos and hilarious video are like the love child of Cassius Marcellus Coolidge’s famous early-1900s “Dogs Playing Poker” paintings, crossed with William Wegman’s 1990’s ‘dogs with human hands’ segments on Sesame Street.
The making of the video created a funny full house, featuring Lucky Dog adorable adoptable rescues Frito, Lacey, Darwina, Olympic and Honolulu Sun, with the human hands of a team of amazing volunteers. Frito the dealer perfected his poker face, while black shepherd Lacey and brindle shepherd mix Darwina couldn’t conceal their excitement.
“Although the purpose of these comical canines is to promote Lucky Dog’s Casino Night, 100% of the event proceeds will support Lucky Dog’s serious lifesaving work,” said Mirah Horowitz, Lucky Dog Founder and CEO, “As shelter euthanasia rates across the country continue to climb, and dog adoptions and animal transports continue to fall, our work has never been more crucial. None of our lifesaving efforts would be possible without the thousands of donors, volunteers and fosters who give their hearts, homes, time and financial support to caring for countless Lucky Dogs and Cats.”
Lucky Dog’s 11th Annual Casino Night will be held Saturday, October 19, 2024 at the International Spy Museum, 700 L'Enfant Plaza SW, Washington, DC.
There are several ways to participate. If you’re local, you can ante up and buy tickets to attend in person, and try your luck at poker, craps, roulette and blackjack. Enjoy great music, delicious food, specialty drinks, a silent auction and an end of night raffle. If you can’t attend in person, but want to support Lucky Dog’s work, you can double down and make a donation. Visit the Casino Night page to hit up the online auction (live on 10/12). Various sponsorship opportunities with VIP access are also available, if you or your company would like to buy in and become an event sponsor. All proceeds benefit the lifesaving work of Lucky Dog Animal Rescue, a volunteer-powered 501(c)(3).
Lucky Dog’s work includes rescuing homeless, neglected, and abandoned animals from certain euthanasia and finding them loving forever homes; educating the community on responsible pet parenting, including the importance of spay/neuter, obedience training, and good nutrition; and helping transport animals out of areas affected by hurricanes and national disasters.
Although Lucky Dog is foster-based out of northern Virginia, with a rescue campus in South Carolina, their impact is felt across the country and even internationally. Lucky Dog is currently helping transport dozens of animals out of shelters affected by Hurricane Helene.
