Halloween week kicked off with a bang this year at our 15th Annual Trick or Treat Celebration, hosted by our fantastic partners at Dogma Bakery in Shirlington Village. With wagging tails, costumes galore, and an unforgettable spirit of fun, it was a perfect gathering for everyone—on two legs and four! The event was an incredible success, raising more than $6000 to help save Lucky Dogs and Cats.

2024 halloween costumes were creative and diverse.

Our annual doggie trick-or-treat event has become a beloved tradition. This year’s event took place on Saturday, October 26th, from 2 to 4 PM at Dogma Bakery, and participants showed up in full festive spirit. Whether spooky, silly, or sweet, the costumes added a delightful touch to an already amazing day.

Dogma Bakery went all out, coordinating with local businesses to set up treat stations around Shirlington Village. Pets and their people paraded through the area, stopping at each treat station along the way. The creativity and effort everyone put into dressing up their furry friends made for an unforgettable day and some truly impressive photo ops.
We had many fantastic entries in our highly anticipated costume contest. Choosing winners was no easy feat for our Lucky Dog community on Facebook. Attendees and fans alike could vote for their favorite costumes across four categories:

  • Best Pet Costume
  • Funniest Pet Costume
  • Most Creative Pet Costume
  • Best Person and Pet Costume

After several days of spirited voting, our contest wrapped up on October 31st at 10 AM, and we are thrilled to announce this year's winners:

These creative costumes brought big smiles to everyone who attended, making it a Halloween to remember. Melissa Kelly, who joined with her dog Maddi and won the prize for Best Person and Pet Costume, shared a wonderful message on Facebook: “Maddi and I had so much fun at this great event! Thank you, Lucky Dog and Dogma!” Seeing the joy on our participants’ and pets’ faces reminds us why we do this every year. We’re already excited to see what creative ideas you have next year. Until Then… Happy Halloween from Lucky Dog.
