What

Lucky Dog Animal Rescue will provide extremely low-cost spay/neuter surgeries ($25 for cats and $35 for dogs), free vaccines, and free microchips for pets in the Pee Dee area thanks to the generous support of the Bissell Pet Foundation, the Wendy B Ranch Foundation, and Fi Nano. This Community Spay Day is a critical initiative aimed at preventing unwanted litters, reducing shelter intake, and improving overall pet health. Pre-registration is required. While Lucky Dog regularly offers low-cost spay/neuter services, these special extremely low-cost days make such surgeries even more attainable for the Pee Dee community.

During Lucky Dog’s first ultra low-cost spay/neuter day, Lucky Dog altered 86 community dogs and cats, implanted 80 microchips, administered 73 rabies vaccines, 54 FVRCP vaccines for cats, and 23 DAPP vaccines for dogs. Lucky Dog has completed over 6,700 community spay/neuters, implanted 624 microchips, and administered 840 rabies vaccines, 301 cat vaccines, and 600 dog vaccines to community animals over the past year.

Who:

Lucky Dog Animal Rescue believes every animal deserves a second chance, and that the most effective way to reduce homelessness is to prevent it before it begins. By expanding access to affordable spay/neuter services, Lucky Dog is investing in proactive, community-based solutions that keep pets healthy, in homes, and out of shelters.

As a dedicated volunteer-powered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we are committed to rescuing homeless and at-risk dogs and cats and supporting pet parents to keep families together. Our foster-based program in the Washington, DC metro provides a safe and nurturing environment until our dogs and cats find their forever homes, and our one-of-a-kind rescue campus in South Carolina ensures pets receive the medical care they need before entering our foster program. With no state or federal funding, 100% of our lifesaving work depends on the generosity of friends and supporters. BISSELL Pet Foundation: BISSELL Pet Foundation is a charitable 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to help reduce the number of animals in shelters through pet adoption, spay/neuter programs, microchipping and crisis and disaster response. Founded in 2011 by Cathy Bissell, BPF is an extension of her long-standing love for animals and commitment to their welfare. BPF has since partnered with more than 6,000 shelters and rescues across the U.S. and Canada to help pets find loving homes. The foundation is supported by generous donors and BISSELL Homecare, Inc where every purchase saves pets. To learn more or make a lifesaving donation, visit www.bissellpetfoundation.org.

The Wendy B Ranch Foundation: The Wendy B Ranch Foundation was inspired by a lifelong love of shelter dogs and the stories of Nola, a Hurricane Katrina survivor, and Samson, a beloved senior dog who found family after the loss of his owner. Dedicated to advocating for senior dogs often overlooked in shelters, the foundation supports rescue, adoption, and efforts to curb pet overpopulation with the hope that one day every pet will have a loving home and shelters will stand empty. Until then, the Wendy B Ranch Foundation encourages families to please adopt.

Why: Lucky Dog Animal Rescue and its partners are committed to addressing pet overpopulation at its source by expanding access to essential veterinary care. Spay and neuter services are one of the most effective ways to reduce the number of homeless pets while also supporting healthier, longer lives for companion animals and safer, more stable communities.
