Petco Love and Lucky Dog Animal Rescue Aim to Stop the Spread of Deadly Preventable Diseases Through Free Pet Vaccination Events As Part of Petco Love’s ‘Vaccinated and Loved’ Initiative

Florence, S.C., July 24, 2025 – Lucky Dog Animal Rescue will provide free vaccinations for Pee Dee area pets, this Friday, July 25. This is made possible through Petco Love's national initiative Vaccinated and Loved, which provides one million free pet vaccines, (DHPP Canine and FVRCP Feline), to existing animal welfare partners. The microchips and reduced cost rabies vaccines are being provided by generous Lucky Dog donors and Fi Nano.

Parvovirus and distemper in dogs and panleukopenia in cats — the most prevalent deadly diseases affecting pets — are preventable with a simple vaccine. To ensure the health and wellness of our beloved animals, Lucky Dog Animal Rescue and Petco Love have partnered to make pet vaccines free and accessible.

The Community Vaccine Clinic will take place on Friday, July 25, from 5 to 7 pm at the Lucky Dog Animal Rescue South Carolina Campus- 2502 North Williston Road, Florence, SC 29506. Pet Parents, please bring $10 cash for the rabies vaccine. Pre-registration is required: bit.ly/scvaccineclinic

“We are absolutely blown away by the response from our community. More than 550 pets are already signed up for this Friday’s vaccine and microchip clinic, and we expect even more to register,” said Stephanie Moore, South Carolina Campus Lead, Lucky Dog Animal Rescue.  “This will be our biggest clinic yet—more than double the size of our largest event to date. It’s a powerful reminder of how much this service is needed and how many families we can support when we come together. This is our seventh clinic, and it’s shaping up to be the best one yet!”

“It is heartbreaking when any pet suffers or dies from a disease that could have been prevented. It is further exacerbated when unvaccinated pets come into busy shelter kennels, where these deadly diseases can spread quickly, resulting in multiple deaths, skyrocketing expenses, and hindering saving pet lives,” said Susanne Kogut, Petco Love President. “By creating greater awareness and making this crucial preventative care more accessible to pets not currently receiving these life-saving vaccines, we can prevent the dangerous spread of disease.”

In November 2023, Petco Love’s Vaccinated and Loved initiative reached its goal of distributing 2 million free pet vaccines for family pets and committing an additional 1 million vaccines to make pet families healthier.
